Dispute mediation participants benefit from my experience and skills as a copyright/trademark attorney for more than 40 years and my work as a consultant in the area of intellectual proprty to the governments of more than 15 foreign countries since 1996. In my law practice I regularly develop and suggest creative approaches that enable a broad range of clients to obtain favorable results regarding their intellectual property and resolve disputes concerning them. Through my international work I learned much about and have been able to deal with different ways people in other cultures think and approach dispute resolution, among other things. This combined experience has been instrumental in my ability to persuasively encourage mediation participants to fully evaluate their positions and determine whether they are realistic and correspond to their underlying interests.
In the variety of 100+ mediations I conducted within the past three years, more than 90% resulted in the participants reaching agreement. I am on the International Trademark Association’s Mediator’s Network (formerly known as the INTA Panel of Neutrals), a member of the Mediation Association of Colorado, and received a Mediator of the Year Certificate of Appreciation from Jefferson County Mediation Services. In addition, I was honored by the First Judicial Bar Association and the First Judicial District Access to Justice Committee for outstanding contributions and service as a pro-bono mediator for the years 2010 and 2011.
