Bart is an experienced litigator, trial attorney, and former engineer who has dedicated his entire career to resolving his clients’ disputes and challenges related to patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, unfair competition, false advertising, and other complex commercial and intellectual property disputes. He has represented and counseled a wide variety of clients, from start-ups to Fortune 100 companies, in the telecommunications, e-commerce, machinery and equipment, apparel, footwear, consumer products, and healthcare industries.

Bart’s clients have included Nike, ITT, Newell Brands, Sprint, Columbia, Cerner, The Home Depot, and Hallmark. Bart has served as lead trial attorney in multiple cases around the country and regularly handles critical hearings and briefs, manages complex litigation, and argues patent-related and other cases in federal district courts and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He has significant experience resolving disputes through mediation, arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution,

He earned his law degree from Washington University in St. Louis and was a primary notes editor for the school’s law review. Bart also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from Nebraska Wesleyan University and a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis.

Before becoming an attorney, Bart was an engineer for ten years and, as a result, has a solid grasp of the technical issues inherent in patent litigation and other complex matters. He is a certified Professional Engineer, a registered Patent Attorney, the past Chair of the Intellectual Property Committee of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, and a recognized “IP Star” by the Managing Intellectual Property publication.
